Croatia

The official currency of Croatia is the Kuna (HRK). The word actually translates as ‘Marten”, a small ferret like animal that whose fur was traded as currency in years gone by.

The Kuna is made up of one hundred Lipas, and is considered to be a relatively stable currency.

ATM machines can be found in most towns and resorts and you shouldn’t have any problem using major cards in hotels, restaurants and shops.

When exchanging currency, you’ll probably get the best rates at the bank or the airport. The bureau de change at your hotel will probably give you a poor rate and may charge hefty processing fees on top of that.
