With the Disneyland Paris Eurostar service operating direct daily trains to Mickey’s European holiday home; the magic’s both ‘closer than you think’ and a lot easier to get to. Hop on Eurostar at London’s St PancrasSt Pancras (formerly Waterloo) station, Ashford (in Kent) or the new Eurostar station Ebbsfleet and in less then three hours you’ll arrive at the gates of the Magic Kingdom. And the best bit is that your kids won’t even have time to get bored.

Disneyland Paris is divided into four themed ‘lands’, so there’s something to suit every whim; from the adrenaline soaked roller coaster rides in futuristic Discoveryland to Sleeping Beauty’s fairytale castle in Fantasyland. Neighbouring Adventureland brings out the Indiana Jones in everyone, while Frontierland takes you straight back to America’s Wildest West. But that’s only half of it, and in 2002 Mickey opened Walt Disney Studios Park next door which takes a closer look at what goes on behind the silver screen.

Ticket prices vary depending on when you book (if you can plan three months in advance you’ll get the cheapest fares) and what type of ticket you want. For example; Standard tickets are non refundable and often include a Saturday night stay, while anyone wanting the flexibility of a ticket that they can change at any time will have to pay for the privilege. However, the most important ‘bit’ is that children (aged 4 11) pay around 25% of the full adult fare and anyone under 26 or over 65 (Youth or Senior respectively) will pay approximately 50%. If you really want to go to town you can travel Castle Class.

If you are staying for a Saturday night there are plenty of hotels to choose from, including six themed Disney hotels. To arrange a DIY break; start by booking the train at eurostar.com, then have a look at accommodation (either at the official Disneyland Paris website or in the surrounding region). By organising Disneyland Paris Eurostar yourself; you can expect substantial discounts, but if you want to save on effort you’ll find there are a growing number of online travel agents who will do the work for you.
