Hanalei Bay Resort on Kauai Kauai

The Hanalei Bay Resort on Kauai

The Hanalei Bay Resort is on the less developed north coast overlooking Hanalei Bay. This area is known for its lush, mountainous scenery and exotic wildlife, and would appeal to nature lovers and people who are into the outdoors. The Resort is sited on the Princeville tourist development and has access to its golf courses, and the charming town of Hanalei is also nearby.

This little town has not yet fully succumbed to the typical tourist developments and still very much retains a traditional Hawaiian air about it. The resort has been built and decorated in a way that keeps with the style of old Hawaii. The guest rooms have Hawaiian furnishings and lanais (balconies or patio areas) overlooking the Bay. The resort is set in beautiful, tropical grounds with two waterfalls and a fabulous view over the ocean. The resort provides a free shuttle service around the grounds and to the golf courses.

The rooms are divided into three categories: rooms, studios or suites. The rates vary according to which view you opt for mountainous, ocean or tropical gardens. The rooms have a/c, a dataport, fridge, cable TV, and as previously mentioned a verandah. Studios contain a small kitchenette in addition to these facilities. Suites also contain a washer/dryer and fully equipped kitchen. A daily maid service is available, even for the self contained units.

The Happy Talk Lounge is a great place from which to watch the sunset while drinking a cocktail and it also serves food. The restaurant, Bali Ha'i, is open air to allow you to enjoy the magnificent view to the full. Other amenities include: two outdoor, freshwater pools; eight tennis courts and a tennis school; Jacuzzi, pool side massage, a children's program in the summer and a babysitting service. The Hanalei Bay Resort offers wedding packages which range from hire of the grounds to assistance with planning the wedding and arranging the cake, photographer, music and other wedding accompaniments.

There is plenty to do if you are not into golf or tennis. One of the two swimming pools not only has had waterfalls incorporated into its design but also has a man made sandy beach to lounge on. If you want the real deal then why no visit nearby Pu'u Poa Beach which has a reef and during calm weather offers good snorkeling. During the winter months it is possible to surf outside the reef but this is very challenging and for experienced surfers only.

The resort also offers timeshare opportunities. This allows people who want to visit Kauai every year to purchase the rights to an annual two week slot. This can be sub let to friends or family, or exchanged for a week in another destination in another resort which operates as part of the same scheme.
