Manchester Restaurants Guide to Eating Out in Manchester

Manchester Restaurants

New restaurants are popping up all the time in Manchester, so you’ll have plenty of options no matter what type of food or style of venue you are looking for. On our last count, there were 300 restaurants in the city centre alone – and this doesn’t even take into account those located in the suburbs and in popular Cheshire towns and villages like Knutsford, Didsbury and Altrincham.

One of Manchester’s most famous and popular types of cuisine is Indian food, and the area of Rusholme is actually known as The Curry Mile. There are also a number of excellent Italian eateries in the area, which is in part due to the large Italian community that settled in Greater Manchester in the 1800s. Of course, popular food chains are also in abundance, offering cuisines from all around the globe, from Chinese and Thai to Mexican and Spanish tapas restaurants.

The newly revitalised Northern Quarter district of the city is home to a range of exciting bars and restaurants. From trendy pizza places and traditional pubs to soup kitchens and cocktail lounges serving Oriental food, the once grimy streets have been spruced up and are now a playground for city workers, students and tourists alike.
