TAP Air Portugal

TAPTAP (www.flytap.comwww.flytap.com) Air Portugal has been in operation for nearly sixty years, operating flights around the world, and it aims to present a little bit of what Portugal is about to its customers by supporting Portuguese brands, products and values. But TAP Air Portugal does not only fly to its native land. In fact, twenty per cent of its revenue comes from flying people out to Brazil, that is some 530,000 passengers in 2003, and they operate nearly forty weekly flights to Brazil from Portugal.

As Madeira becomes one of Europe's most popular holiday destinations thanks to its mild climate and beautiful scenery, TAP Air Portugal has increased its number of scheduled flights from London to Madeira (that is to Funchal airport) to five per week. You can now consider flying out there for the weekend as, even though it takes just under four hours to fly there, the airport is not far away from anything on the island as the island is very small.

As for pricing, TAP Air Portugal has economy flight options available (but it does advise that you book early for these extremely popular seats), and executive class seats. In executive class you get the latest in seat comfort with the controls on the arm of your chair ready to adjust lumbar, leg and foot position to ensure you are always at your most comfortable, whether sitting up or sleeping. The food on offer is based on traditional Portuguese cooking and in Navigator class you get a choice of four meals, plus good quality wine, desserts and cheese. Another advantage of Navigator class is the two days' free parking you get at Lisbon, Porto, Faro and Funchal airports. On board entertainment comprises a range of the latest films in Portuguese and English, Atlantis magazine and music channels, of which there is a choice of six ranging from jazz to classical music.

For those travelling with babies and children, TAP Air Portugal lets you board first so that you are comfortably installed in your seats before the other passengers board the plane. They let you take your pushchairs or buggies right up to the plane and then have it ready for you when you disembark at the other end. They also provide a range of books, games and colouring pencils to help keep the children entertained during the flight.
