Colorado Ski Vacations Ski Holidays USA Canada

Advice on finding your perfect ski holiday

Aspen is one of the all time great ski resorts in the world. Along with Breckenridge, it accounts for the majority of people making the trip to Colorado for a ski vacation. But away from these two giants of the world of ski vacations, Colorado has much more to offer.

Telluride, for instance, is a special resort in south west Colorado with a Victorian chic but with a funky old town feel to it too. It has only recently been expanded, now offering eighty runs and sixteen chairlifts, which is why it is still not featured in many holiday brochures and is still something of a secret from the masses. Superstars such as Tom Cruise and Oprah Winfrey own properties in the resort.

Another resort in Colorado is Steamboat; home to more winter Olympians than any other town in the States. It is known in the region as Ski Town USA and has the full range of après ski, whether you are looking for something romantic or something a bit more lively. The resort boasts 140 runs and twenty two lifts, including four new high speed quad lifts. And to top it off, you can even buy your own Stetson or cowboy hat in Steamboat!

Winter Park is in the Colorado rockies and straddles the continental divide. It is the closest resort to Denver and therefore is more affordable than alternative resorts in Colorado. It is also a good family option as it has an excellent reputation for childcare. The resort has a laidback atmosphere which could definitely be described as 'genuine Colorado'.

Vail is the single largest ski area in the USA and Beaver Creek is its sister resort which is smaller but much more charming. The resorts combine into one lift pass which provides access to one hundred and seventy runs.

Colorado has much to offer all skiers, and if you dare to look beyond Aspen and Breckenridge, you may find something unexpectedly enticing.
