Jackson Hole Ski Vacation Resorts in the Area

Jackson Hole is the only real ski vacation resort to be found in the Wyoming area. It is set amongst the world famous Teton mountain range and is described as a Ski Mecca by locals.

When choosing where you stay on your Jackson Hole ski vacation, be aware that the resort is split into two villages. Downtown Jackson is the home of cowboys and the wild west! It has extremely colourful nightlife and the raised wooden boardwalks are a real distinctive feature. The other side of the resort, about twenty minutes walk from Downton Jackson, is Teton Village. This offers a much quieter contrast and has lovely bars and shops to meander amongst at your leisure.

The slopes themselves cascade from the highest lift to be found anywhere in the USA. At three thousand one hundred and eighty five metres above sea level, it provides both a great starting point for an incredible run all the way down to the resort below, as well as a breathtaking panorama of the Teton mountain range.

In spite of all this, the resorts do not offer a particularly expansive area for beginners with just fifteen runs between the two villages. However other attractions provide an interest for novices such as night skiing and the free two hour mountain tours available around the region. This is a great chance to look round the Yellowstone National Park in which the resort sits and better still it does not even cost a cent. You can also book all day lessons for children which is particularly appealing for parents wanting a little time to themselves.

Intermediates and experts are well catered for with sixty two and fifty four runs respectively. Advanced skiers have the infamous ‘Corbets Couloir’ to contend with at their own risk. Another option for a high octane challenge is to get the mini bus, which is no more expensive than a beer, to Grand Targhee, another extremely demanding black run.
