Almeria Accommodation

Almeria has a good range of accommodation from top quality hotels with conference facilities and internet link ups in each room to small family run, Spanish establishments where you'll get a clean and comfortable room at an incredibly low price.

The city of Almeria has several top of the range hotels geared to business people and international travelers who are more interested in modern conveniences than a taste of the "real Spain".

The coastal resorts of Aguadulce, Almerimar, Roquetas de Mar and Mojácar all cater for foreign tourists with hotels and apartments providing modern facilities at various levels to suit most budgets.

If you're watching the Euros and prefer to "go native", try one of the many hostales and pensions which you'll find throughout the province especially in the city and set back from the coast.

One of the most luxurious hotels in the city of Almeria is the four star Husa Gran Hotel in Avenida Reina Regente, which has lovely views of the central park and the sea. The hotel is well equipped with a pool, disco, air conditioning and a minibar in each room. The harbour and beaches are within easy reach.

The four star Vincci Mediterraneo in Avenida del Mediterraneo is also well served with restaurants, air conditioning, business facilities and easy access to the beach.

There are plenty of three and two star hotels in the city and also a number of hostals and pensions which usually give excellent value for money. Most hostales provide en suite facilities and often have excellent home cooked food with local dishes served up at very palatable prices.

Local pensions are more basic (you may have to share a bathroom and meals are not normally provided) but they're usually spotlessly clean and it's a good way to learn Spanish because the proprietors don't normally speak English!

One of the oldest hotels in the city is the two star La Perla in Plaza del Carmen in downtown Almeria. Here you'll get decent, modern facilities air conditioning, coffee shop, restaurants, TV with movie channels at a very reasonable price.

If you prefer something a little more "swish" and international, try the four star Gran Hotel. This hotel is fully geared to the demands of modern tourism and boasts a health club with turkish baths, sauna, gym, swimming pool, tennis and business centre.

The nearby resorts of Roquetas de Mar and Aguadulce also have a good selection of modern hotels as does Mojácar, on the eastern coast of Almeria, which is the liveliest tourist centre in the province.

In and around these coastal resort areas you'll find plenty of self catering apartments and villas to rent. Most villas have a private or communal swimming pool making this a particularly enjoyable way to spend a family holiday. It often works out cheaper than a hotel if you're traveling in a large group as you normally pay a set price per villa rather than paying per person.

There are plenty of camp sites along the coast including the well equipped Camping Los Gallardos near Mojácar which has a wealth of facilities including a restaurant, supermarket, swimming pool and bowling green. For younger visitors, the site also has two aviaries and an animal farm.

Camping Garrofa, to the west of Almeria city just off the N340 national coast road, is set in a tranquil spot with good facilities including a pool, supermarket, bar, restaurant, laundry and car wash. The site accepts caravans and there are bungalows to rent.

Other registered sites are located at San Jose, at the south eastern tip of Spain, and at the popular resort of Roquetas de Mar.
