La Pineda Accommodation

La Pineda is a relatively new resort which has been growing fast since the 1980s. The result is a seafront lined with modern hotels and apartment blocks geared to the needs of international tourists. There are several luxurious four star hotels and plenty of choice in the mid range two and three star categories. Many holidaymakers visiting this area opt for self catering apartments which are ideal for families with young children.

One of the most impressive tourist complexes in the resort is the Estival Park Hotel and holiday village. The complex is on the seafront at Playa de la Pineda just 700 metres from the heart of the resort. It consists of three hotel buildings and blocks of bungalow style apartments. Hotel facilities, which are available to all guests staying within the complex, include swimming pools, bars, a games area and modern sports centre with an indoor pool, six floodlit tennis courts, squash, gym, sauna and massage rooms. Professional entertainers lay on a full programme of day and evening activities for children and adults in high season.

Also in the four star category is the elegant Hotel Palas Pineda, which is just two minutes from the beach and boasts superb sports, leisure and entertainment facilities. There are outdoor and indoor pools, a sauna and jacuzzi, three bars, disco, tennis courts, squash, gym and aerobics room. All rooms are well equipped with air conditioning, private terrace, safe, satellite TV and mini bar.

All the big hotels in the resort are within easy reach of the beaches, Aquopolis water park and Universal Studios theme park Port Aventura (which is the main reason why many tourists visit La Pineda). Meals are usually "all you can eat" buffets, included in the price of your package deal. Most hotels lay on good in house entertainment with kids' clubs to keep the youngsters amused by day and during the early evening.

There's a plentiful supply of apartments to rent here including "aparthotels", like Estival Park, where you can enjoy all the freedom and comfort of self catering accommodation combined with the convenience of hotel facilities on your doorstep. Standards vary enormously so check in advance exactly what you're getting for your money. The better apartments have fully fitted kitchens with a fridge and cooking facilities, a separate bathroom and living area and access to communal facilities such as a pool, games room, bars etc. Be prepared to pay a refundable deposit on arrival to cover any breakages or damage (or check with your travel agent whether this is included in the price).

If you want to be near all the big leisure attractions of La Pineda but you don't fancy a standard package holiday hotel, travel inland where you'll find traditional Spanish hostals and country houses converted into select tourist accommodation. Hostals are usually more basic than modern hotels but you usually get excellent value for money and most provide en suite facilities these days.

The Costa Dorada is also well served with beachfront camp sites, some of which have bungalows to rent. The better sites are well equipped with sports and leisure facilities such as swimming pools, shops, bars, restaurants and games rooms.
