Salou Accommodation

The majority of visitors to Salou stay in the modern high rise hotels which dominate the resort. There's a good range to choose from and you'll find something here to suit all budgets from luxurious four star hotels to cheap and cheerful Spanish style pensions. There are also several campsites along this stretch of coastline, big apartment blocks and exclusive self catering villas.

The resort's hotels are capable of accommodating around 30,000 visitors at any one time. Facilities vary enormously of course, according to price, but most of the bigger hotels provide private swimming pools, leisure activities and entertainment programmes. Most hotels here serve buffet style meals which are often included in the price.

If you're travelling with young children, check with the hotel or your tour rep if there's a kids' club with daytime and early evening activities and extra services such as babysitting. Many of the hotels here provide these services which can make all the difference if you're a harassed parent who badly needs some adult only time when you're on holiday!

The Salauris Palace:

One of the most luxurious hotels is the four star Salauris which boasts a prime location as the nearest hotel to Port Aventura. The hotel is in Avinguda Paisos Catalans, 10 minutes from the beach and just 300 metres from the theme park.

Its excellent facilities include a large outdoor pool and separate kids' pool, a heated indoor pool and jacuzzi, a gym, sauna, Turkish bath and massage rooms. There's a full entertainment programme for adults and children with live music and shows in the evenings.

There are literally hundreds of other hotels ranging from one to four stars and about a dozen hostals which offer clean and comfortable accommodation at an exceptionally good price. Facilities in these hostals or "pensiones" are fairly limited but you often have en suite bathrooms and excellent home cooked local food.

Salou also has a number of "aparthotels" which combine the freedom of self catering accommodation with the convenience of hotel facilities.

At the Mediterranean Village, in Carrer Giniesta, you can choose between a hotel room or an apartment but either way you'll be able to enjoy the superb facilities of this self contained holiday centre. There are two big fresh water swimming pools with lakes and waterfalls, attractive gardens, a children's pool, a fitness suite and sports centre.

The complex has its own supermarket, restaurant, bars, children's playground and even an Internet centre. It's close to Port Aventura and just three minutes from the beach.

Other self catering accommodation can be rented on an individual basis in which case you'll probably pay less but won't have access to such good communal facilities.

There are several other top quality modern apartment blocks close to the beaches, with sea views and good facilities such as air conditioning, a dishwasher, micro, TV and washing machine in each flat.

If you're holidaying in a large group it's worth considering renting a private villa as this can sometimes work out cheaper than a decent hotel. You normally pay a set price for the villa rather than paying per person. There are some beautiful villas to rent here with their own pools set in secluded gardens.

If you're on a tight budget try one of the many campsites which pepper this stretch of the coastline. Most have chalets and bungalows to rent as well as pitches for tents and caravans.

Camping Canguli, in Carrer Prolongacio, is a first category site with a wealth of sport and entertainment facilities including tennis courts, a football pitch, swimming pools, mini golf, fitness centre and evening shows.
