Florida timeshares account for over 20 percent of the country's total vacation ownership and is the most popular family destination. It's no surprise that most of the activities that keep both visitors and residents occupied are water based. These include fresh and salt water fishing, diving, snorkeling, sailing, yachting, windsurfing and surfing. Golf is also huge in Florida and there are more than 1000 courses to choose from. Other activities include bird watching, cycling and hiking through plush green forests and nature parks. Shopping in Florida can almost be considered a sport. Every kind of shopping experience can be found from up market boutiques to factory outlets and flea markets.

The long summers are warm and humid with an average high of 80°F. Afternoon storms are common during this time of year but they don't normally last long. Winter is milder with an average temperature of 60°F and much lower humidity. Winter is, understandably, the peak tourist season. The time of the year to look out for is the hurricane season which is from June to November.
