Things to Do in Maui - Tours & Day Trips

You see the problem is that there is just too much to do on this little Hawaiian Island. So what we have tried to do is put together a list of "must dos." The list below is not in any set order. Enjoy!

Even with the volume of things to do in Maui you will very rarely not feel the presence of the once active Haleakala, so why not take the opportunity to embark on an unforgettable hiking experience to the volcano's crater. The hike is encompassed with terrific scenery and lookout points that provide stunning views of the island and its spectacular sunsets. For more information please visit the Haleakala National Park.Still on the subject of volcanoes it would be a sin not to take a charter boat out to the crescent shaped Molokini Crater for a spot of snorkeling. Or why not extend the trip to include the lovely waters of Lanai, which was included amongst the top ten best snorkeling destinations. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the majestic spinner dolphins that glide through these ocean waters, particularly around Manele Bay.

When it comes to things to do in Maui we cannot stress the beauty of an underwater dive. The island is literally riddled with spectacular dives, and there are just as many dive operators to match. The area around Honolua is a favourite spot as is the large majority of the West Maui coastline. A little intimidated by all the equipment then why not try a Snuba dive or a ride in a submarine.

Whale watching is one of the island's star attractions from December to April as this is when the humpback whales migrate back to Maui's shallow waters. The western and southern shores provide the best vantage points. But for the best experience though we recommend booking a charter with the Pacific Whale Foundation whose tours are highly entertaining and educational.

And what would Maui be without its sandy beaches. The island has more than eighty beaches, all with their own unique characteristics and an abundance of marine life including sea turtles. Whether you are just there for some quiet sunbathing, a relaxing swim or a bit of snorkeling - the amount of things to do and experience are endless.

Try the local restaurants! You will find a restaurant that caters for every taste under the sun. The island has attracted a number of young chefs that are quickly redefining and reinventing the island's cuisine. A candlelit dinner, a tropical island star filled sky and the sound of the sea emanating from all around - what could be more romantic.

With regard to taking in the Hawaiian culture - of all the things to do in Maui - we strongly recommend booking a seat at an authentic Maui Luau.

One of last "must dos" is a Helicopter tour of the island. Taking one of these will allow you to reach some of Maui's hard to reach places such as the " Wall of Tears." This is an opportunity to take in the entire beauty of the island.
