There are quite a few Molokai bed and breakfasts that are spread across the island which provide many visitors with a relaxing and definitely more private Hawaiian experience.

You may not have amenities and facilities at your every turn, but instead you will find that these are easily forgotten as soon as you discover just how much more personal a bed and breakfast can be.

Below we provide a detailed run through of some of the more popular B and B's.

The Ka Hale Mala Bed and Breakfast (808-553-5954) can be found in the vicinity of the main town of Kaunakakai. The Ka Hale Mala B&B has four rooms which have been dressed in simple island furniture and are anything but small. All guests are met at the airport and escorted back to their soon to be residence by the B&B's owners. Visitors are encouraged to explore the surrounding area on the mountain bikes that are made available - why not even consider having a picnic made up and take that with you? After a hard day of exploring; this bed and breakfast's Jacuzzi is a welcomed sight! The nightly fee does not cover breakfast, for this there is unfortunately an additional fee - the alternative to paying this is to make use of the fully fitted kitchen. (www.molokai-bnb.com).

The A'ahi Place B&B (808-553-8033) is also conveniently close to Kaunakakai, and is nestled amongst manicured island gardens and is adorned in Hawaii's characteristic wicker furniture. This Molokai bed and breakfast is housed in a completely revamped cedar cottage that is now fully self-contained. Enjoy the sun drenched verandas and the many beach activities on offer, and have no fear of being sidetracked by the TV or telephone - because there is none!

Kamalo Plantation B&B (808-558-8236) can be found on the east side of the island on an incredible 5 acres of tropical island landscape covered with fruit trees, tendered gardens and even the site of an ancient heiau ruin. As with most types of B and B this one has been sculptured and dressed in a typical old Polynesian style, complete with lanais and cool airy rooms. Take your choice of enjoying a BBQ under the setting island sun, or why not cook up storm in the fully equipped kitchen. This little cottage can comfortably sleep four.

The Moanui Beach House is also considered part of the Kamalo Plantation BandB. The beach house is slightly larger than the abovementioned cottage and also differs in that it has an "A-frame" design housing its two bedrooms. This unique design allows the front verandah to face out onto the Pacific. Guests staying here also have access to a fully fitted kitchen and there is a beautiful private cove just a stone throws away. Both rentals have a supply of essential continental breakfast items.
