Rental Villas on the Costa Brava

Private villa rentals on the Costa Brava are a popular choice among holidaymakers seeking an alternative to the high rise hotels which dominate much of this stretch of coastline.

There’s a wide choice of villas to rent in this beautiful north east corner of Spain which offers everything from frantic party resorts to tranquil fishing villages and lovely medieval towns where time seems to have stood still for centuries.

Villa Rentals for all budgets

And renting a villa here doesn’t have to cost the earth – in fact if you’re travelling in a group of six people or more it can work out much cheaper than the cost of an average three star hotel. In most cases you pay a set price for renting the whole villa on a weekly basis and that can turn out to be far more cost effective than paying for several hotel rooms.

If you’re travelling on a tight budget, think about renting directly from one of the many villa owners who advertise their properties on the Internet and in various newspapers and magazines. That way you’ll avoid paying the hefty commissions charged by many agents operating in this part of Spain. But first read about the pros and cons of dealing directly with owners (as opposed to booking through an agent):

For those with money to burn there are some sumptuous properties along the Costa Brava. Some have private beaches and yacht moorings, luxurious furnishings and all manner of lavish touches designed to appeal to the well-heeled holidaymaker who wants to be pampered at any price. You’ll find top of the range villas offering daily maid service, private speed boats, tennis courts, whirlpool baths etc.

At the other end of the scale there are plenty of affordable villas which might be more basis in terms of facilities but still offer access to a private or communal pool and far more freedom and space than you’ll find in most hotels.

Choose your location carefully because the resorts along this 160-kilometre of coastline vary enormously in terms of character and entertainment facilities. Plump for manic Lloret de Mar if you’re looking for an action-packed nightlife and an essentially British flavour to your holiday. Tossa de Mar is more suited to families and those seeking a relaxing holiday in a far quieter resort than nearby Lloret. Roses is the biggest resort at the northern end of the Costa and whilst it’s fairly relaxed (compared with Lloret) there are plenty of daytime activities and lively night spots to suit most tastes.

All the resorts along the Costa Brava are easily accessed from most European destinations. The region is a day’s drive from the English channel ports or visitors can fly into Perpignan (in the south of France), Girona (the main airport serving the Costa Brava) or Barcelona.
