Black cabs are renowned for over pricing though will go to great lengths to get you to use their service by offering a fixed price, or going to pick up your luggage. Although it is normal for there to be lines for the yellow cabs, it is worth it with the fare being considerably lower.
If you are on a tight budget, ordinary Metro buses can also be caught from JFK and LaGuardia at a cost of just $2.25.
