Luxury Hotels Paris - Weekend Breaks

The kind of luxury hotel Paris has to offer can vary: from the fairly expensive to the outrageously expensive. However, if you can afford it, staying in a Paris luxury hotel can be quite an experience. You can tell a lot about a city from how the luxury hotels compete with each other; in relatively new cities the hotels strive to have the best swimming pool or the most ostentatious interior design, but Paris luxury hotels distinguish themselves on the basis of their histoires - histories, or stories.

Consider these pages for busses + metro, national trains, airport transfers and airport information.

A room in a luxury hotel in Paris will usually cost a minimum of €200 a night, although you can get some deals that will bring the price down to €90 per night or less. July and August are good months to look for such discounts as this is considered the low season. The Internet should be your first port of call when you're looking for such hotel deals. Bargains are harder to come by in the busy months of June, September or October.

L'Hotel on the Rue des Beaux Arts (13 Rue des Beaux-Arts)

Website: www.l-hotel.com

L'Hotel on the Rue des Beaux Arts is famous for being where Oscar Wilde breathed his last. There are various stories about what his last words were; some claim that he said "I die, as I lived, beyond my means," while others say his last words were: "Either that wallpaper goes or I do." Whether he died complaining about the decor or his inability to pay the bill, the hotel still honoured him after his death with a dedicated room. Perhaps as a belated response to Oscar's hints, the hotel was remodelled in 2000. What makes the current décor so interesting is that no two rooms are the same. The Oscar Wilde room is decadent enough for any fin-de-siècle poseur, but other highlights include the Asian-themed Marco Polo room and the room based on Pompeii. There is also an underground swimming pool. This hotel has impeccable detail throughout, giving luxury a new meaning. As you might expect, such a hotel doesn't come cheap. A small double room (there are no singles) in the low season (August) can be reasonable in price for a luxury hotel, but then steadily increases depending on the season and the room you choose to stay in.

The Concord/ Fauborg St Honore area has even more luxury hotels, such as the Intercontinental on Rue de Castiglione. The Intercontinental is known for its Salon Opera ballroom, which is classified as a national historic monument. You will also find the Ritz in the St Germain area, on Place Vendôme. So whether you're looking for marbled baths, gourmet food or a good location, there should be a luxury hotel in Paris that fits your requirements.
